On Saturday, March 6, 2010, Polk County Fire District No.1, and the Polk 1
Firefighters Association held their annual awards banquet. Hosted at the
Chemeketa Eola Northwest Viticulture Center, this year’s theme was
“Western Night”, with the event center decorated as an old west town
complete with hay bales, saddles, a saloon and the OK Corral. After the flag
presentation by PCFDNo.1 Honor Guard members Lori Albert and Dave Weston
and the invocation by District Board Members and Pastor Stan Peterson,
attendees enjoyed a grand dinner of prime rib, coleslaw, corn bread muffins,
mashed potatoes, baked beans and apple pie.
Creating a laugh among the attendees, a special “Coyote” award,
along with a toy rifle, was presented to District Fire Chief Jason
Cane by Volunteer Division Chief Steve Moser and Engineer Wally
Schmidt for his ability to protect his personal farm animals that
he raises on his property.
This year’s event continued the tradition of honoring members,
past and present, for their accomplishments and dedication to
the District. Upon the conclusion of the event, special recognition
of a single red rose, was given to the spouses and significant
others of the District members for their contributions to the District. |
